About Us
Our Story
The Dikuno Tša Sechaba Community Development Trust
The Dikuno Tša Sechaba Community Development Trust was formed after Anglo American Platinum launched Alchemy, a community development and empowerment transaction, in 2011, with the aim of promoting long-term sustainable development in its host communities.
Platinum established the Lefa La Rona Trust as a conduit for the benefits of owning the shares involved in this transaction to its host communities around Amandelbult Complex, Mogalakwena Complex, its Rustenburg operations, and Twickenham Project, via community development trusts dedicated to each of these communities, as well as a non-profit company to benefit its major labour-sending areas.
Dikuno is the Alchemy development structure that benefits Amandelbult Complex’s host communities.
The Goal
Our Vision
To contribute towards sustainable community upliftment through mining, and beyond mining. To further enhance a sustained and diverse socio-economic development in local communities through active participation and development partnerships.
Our goal is to build sustainable, thriving rural communities through our unique principles.
The Outlook
Our Strategy
We want to contribute towards leading the development aspirations and achievements of the communities we assist through partnering with them in addressing the multi-dimensional challenges they face to maximise the success of the work done.
Our Operations
Where We Work
In alignment with the Alchemy principle of non-partisanship, the Dikuno Trust does not serve defined local communities. Its primary work is focused on an Alchemy Benefit Area. The boundary of the Alchemy Benefit Area (ABA) encloses communities and settlements 15km or less from the mine lease boundary. An Integrated Benefit Area (IBA) surrounds the ABA. The IBA boundary describes a circle of 50km from the Amandelbult operation.
In practice, these boundaries are largely indicative. The Trust is not restricted to the ABA, and may promote and support cooperative development projects in the IBA.
